Soon after the birth of Lake Oconee Community Church in 2000, a Sunrise Service was held on Easter of 2001 outdoors on the banks of Lake Oconee in the Plantation Point Pavilion of Reynolds Plantation. As a result of this experience, many suggested that a regular worship event be offered in this lovely outdoor, lakeside setting.
LOCC began the now beloved, weekly “Worship on the Water” as an independent, multi-denominational experience Memorial Day weekend, 2001. This 8:30 a.m. gathering continues in this covered, outdoor location from Easter through Blessing of the Animals in early October. The service moves indoors to the Lake Club, Reynolds Plantation, during the winter months and remains at 8:30 a.m.
Residents of Lake Oconee soon discovered the unique feel of this experience. Simple and informal at first, Worship on the Water at Lake Oconee has grown in numbers and maturity, seeking to always be welcoming, enjoyable, and compelling. Some come on foot, some by car, some by boat, some with lawn chair and coffee cup in hand. All are dressed casually, arrive expectantly, and leave the worship event to be the presence of God wherever life takes them.
Don’t miss the several community events that occur throughout the year at this location.
A second Sunday morning worship experience occurs each week at 10:30 at “The LOCC” 1001 Village Park Drive, Suite 107.
