The Hour of Power has grown from the very small group which first met in 2007, to over 40 adults. Each Monday, those in attendance receive spiritual guidance from Pastor Avis, and benefit from the sharing of life experiences by those present.
Members of LOCC provide support and guidance to those of the group who wish to obtain their GED, mentor those with any specific needs, and enjoy being surrogate grandparents to the children of participants.
Retreats and Seminars are scheduled periodically that focus on a wide variety of subjects and skills that help meet the needs of those of the HOP community.
Hour of Power members are committed to giving back to the community. Funds are gathered periodically and sent to the children of current or former HOP members who are in college. Additionally, a $1500 five year goal has been set and pledged to St. Mary’s Good Samaritan Hospital in Greensboro.
